looking sharp!

now that spring is around the corner (the cold, cold corner) i can't stop thinking about pretty pastels and super short hemlines. time to get those legs in shape to be shown off! Jonathan Saunder's Spring/Summer 2011 collection is my spring style inspiration. Everything is so beautiful, in such a simple and well-done way. I love his structured pleated skirts, crisp collared shirts, and all the soft colours he puts together. they're all perfect outfits for a spring day of adventuring, and can move with you from the streets, to a cafe, to a afternoon siesta in the park. the black cocktail dress is so simple and chic and could be worn at any time of the year. all in all, i feel so fresh and light just looking at his pieces!

winged migration

all I can say about Marchesa's fall collection is...wow. Wow, wow, wow. Definately one of my favourites, the collection is packed with intricately beautiful victorian inspired gowns. They make any girl wish she had a lavish party to attend in a gothic mansion. Mixing these gowns with beautiful veils and riding jackets, Marchesa successfuly combines opulence with structure. Not to mention, many of the outfits have a bird-like quality to them, which I am always a fan of. I will be lusting over these dresses for years to come.

young folk

Anna Sui never fails to stimulate the senses. This season, her show was packed with folk prints, psychedelic patterns and an even mix of bright colours and a monochromatic palette. as a vintage enthusiast, i love how many decades she references in this collection. The intricate beading, low waists and surrealist motifs of the 1920's. The boyish, mini skirt of the 1960's. And of course, the colours and mixed fabrics of the 1970's. and you know that I'm a huge fan of the cat hats...purrfect!

get surreal

stumbled upon photographer Daniel Saanwald as I was looking up images of the lovely Kate Somers. Just had to document some of his amazing work. His photographs look like works of art; be it a surrealist painting or a kooky performance piece. The german photographer has an amazing repertoire of work, from dark and moody black and white images, to bold and vibrant colourful shots.

quilty until proven innocent

the Mulleavy sisters have done it again! I am always in love with their beautiful garments and feminine details. This season is a focus on prairie dresses, high and low collars, quilted fabrics and a beautiful soft colour palette with pops of blues and reds. with outfits like these, the country life is looking mighty fine.

so in love with this leiderhosen interpretation

i like to call it the "whitney" collar :)

melt our heart

today's the day we all go crazy for heart-shaped candies, lacey undies and dozen's of roses! the valentines weekend always manages to have some amazing get togethers, and i can never get enough of the colours, hearts and baked goods that these parties consist of.

friday night, at tabula rasa we celebrated all these things in typical store style. the wine was flowin, the beer was bubblin and the people were groovin. the whole reason for the party was author and friend Justin Lee's new coffee table book, Our Liner Notes. the book is adorable and focuses on the role music plays in our lives and romantical relationships. Justin has always had a love affair with music and dedicates his book to every girl who ever made him a mix, took him to a show or introduced him to a new band.

the party was not only a success for his book, but also for the store and our charity the Regent Park School of Music. Through a bake sale we organized, we managed to collect an awesome donation for the organization that provides high-quality music education for less priveleged children. all in all, everyone had a great time and the night was one to remember.

thanks to all the bands, dj's, organizers and guests for coming out and making tabula rasa their valentine. check out some photos below, reblogged from thinkcontra.com.

quick draw

another swedish agency, DARLING Management has caught my eye. Based in stockholm, the agency represents various creatives, including illustrator Amelie Hegardt. I love the watercolour look and the way she mixes such hard lines with soft splashes of colour.

twin shadow

so a few weeks ago i decided it was about time to start documenting my overflowing collection of vintage and stuff i've picked up along the way. the result will be a future lookbook to be designed by my dear friend nicky. until then, here's a shot of the beautiful model alyssa and her adorable twin self. these bathing suits are from the "tropical" section of the lookbook. lots of love and thanks to photographer ally cervantes! and who could forget, my fellow sequined and shiny obsessed gal pal, christina spina...on makeup/hair. such a fun shoot with so many awesome girls. and a big thanks to my sister erika for providing the space and a whole lot of styling help.
