rowe, rowe, rowe your boat

I had the pleasure of assisting designer Ashley Rowe for the past month with the production of her SS11 show. The presentation was on Thursday and attracted lots of positive media and industry attention. Her line was filled with amazing tie-dyed pieces, which she accomplished using various dyeing techniques, the most interesting using a tennis ball. The experience was really great and reminded me how much i love working on shows and events. We were all in a bit of a panic the day before and morning of the show, for it wouldn't be a fashion event if a few things didn't go wrong last minute. The biggest challenge was probably the bathtub centrepiece that the models were set to walk and pose around. Originally filled with dyed water, we quickly realized that we were going to have a leak on our hands if we didn't empty it. Instead of the water, we filled it with tea light candles that really made the bath stand out and the highlighted the model's outfits perfectly. I loved all her ideas for the show's set, simple yet powerful and artistic. The space ended up working out beautifully and even had a great loading dock in the back for all the media to get some better-lit photos of the line. All in all it was a great success. Here are some photos of the event and her collection, courtesy of Jenna Wakani and Kevin Gonsalves.
